Celebrating ECSTEM 2016

Dear CCC Families,

We are excited to report that the 5th Annual ECSTEM conference we hosted last week was a huge success! We had over 600 attendees from over 20 states and several countries. President Thomas Rosenbaum of Caltech came to tour the CCC on Thursday along with our expert panelists Dr. Russell Shilling, Dr. Chip Donohue and Dr. Susan Hackwood. An educator tour of the CCC was also held on Saturday for conference attendees who gave rave reviews. Additionally, we would like congratulate our staff who presented at the conference this year based on their research and work in the classroom.

We wanted to reach out and say thank you to our parent community for your continuing support of our work in introducing STEM concepts to the world of early childhood education! We know that school closure days can be inconvenient so we are so grateful to offer this day to our teachers to attend the conference and grow as professionals. We hope you will see the influence of their experience in the classroom and the benefit that professional development has on our community.

Here are some quotes from some of our exhibitors, attendees and panelists:

“Hello Dear Colleagues,
Special thanks for organizing and seeing to fruition another fabulous conference. It was a dazzling success and I learned so much! Susan, your remarks about your own questioning of the role of technology was a perfect way to frame the conference. I also really enjoyed listening to the panel – and Chip was a change agent for me. I also loved the researchers who presented too – nice to have a variety of tracks for different levels of interest and topics.
With tremendous appreciation for all you do,” Carrie Rothstein-Fish, Professor. Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling, California State University Northridge

“Thank you, thank you, thank you for the wonderful conference. As you can imagine, I attend quite a few such events, but this one was exceptional. It was big enough to have plenty going on, but not so big as to be overwhelming. The care and attention to detail was impressive. Kudos to Veronica and the team!” Trevor Wiser, Community Playthings

“Thank you for your part in putting together the ECSTEM Conference. I enjoyed all of the classes I attended, and the Hall of Inquiry was excellent. This was truly a wonderful opportunity for learning and networking!”
-Beth M. Odom, Children’s Home Society of California

“We just wanted to offer a huge thanks for the amazing conference! We absolutely adore the diversity of perspectives we encounter at the conference, within a consistent context of thoughtfulness. Both years we have attended have been fabulous, and we have left excited and inspired to take new ideas back to our context to share with teachers at BJS and our partner schools in the Boulder/Denver community!”
-Lauren & Alex, Boulder Journey School, Boulder, CO

With gratitude to our wonderful parent community,
Susan, Alma, Veronica, Paulina and Seadra
